Anyway, meet Phileurus valgus L.

Shiny black beetles are hard to photograph (for me, anyway) and this fellow, who was quiet on the carpet in a dark place indoors, did not want to stand still to be photographed outdoors.

Some critters are so ugly they’re cute, and I think this guy falls into that category.
