Species lists are now live on the website.  When you mouse over the Species List, three choices appear: birds, plants, and “zoology” (which in this instance means non-bird wildlife.)

And each of these lists has three pictures of representative species up there on the top green line.

So if you’re been wondering what we have…there it is.

This is such a good idea. Thanks for putting it up.

A slightly out of date set of lists has been up on my elizabethmoon.com site, but people have to navigate around the site to find it. That’s one reason I wanted this website and blog, so people who are most interested in the land stuff could FIND the land stuff. I don’t think I’ll pull anything off the other site (at least, not for quite a while) but this will be easier.

Now…you need to start making YOUR list (wicked grin directed your way…) You will have some overlap with mine, but also you should get herons I don’t get. Yellow-crowned night herons have a roost area near my friend’s house, about 2-3 blocks away, so they might roost on your place if you have trees tall enough.

I saw your previous lists on the older site, but it is much more accessible this way. I have started my own list here in SW Navarro County, but since I’m not trained in any science at all, my list is much more, um, informal (so thanks for including common names on your list!). But it is interesting to see the differences. For instance, you have black-chinned hummingbirds but we have ruby-throats. A couple of times I thought I might have seen a black-chinned, but I think they are tricky to tell apart if the light doesn’t strike them just right.
