{"id":510,"date":"2009-10-30T16:14:56","date_gmt":"2009-10-30T22:14:56","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.80acresonline.org\/blog\/?p=510"},"modified":"2009-10-30T17:46:24","modified_gmt":"2009-10-30T23:46:24","slug":"gorgeous-day","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.80acresonline.org\/blog\/?p=510","title":{"rendered":"Gorgeous Day"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Instead of raining yesterday as the front came through, the sky slowly cleared from the west,\u00a0 and today dawned chilly and clear.\u00a0 While Richard worked on fence, I put on rubber boots and went out to see if anything&#8217;s drying out yet.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-512\" title=\"dry-woods-swale265\" src=\"http:\/\/www.80acresonline.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/10\/dry-woods-swale265.jpg\" alt=\"dry-woods-swale265\" width=\"207\" height=\"310\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.80acresonline.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/10\/dry-woods-swale265.jpg 207w, http:\/\/www.80acresonline.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/10\/dry-woods-swale265-200x300.jpg 200w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 207px) 100vw, 207px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Certainly not this part of it.\u00a0 In fact, there&#8217;s standing or flowing water over much of the 80 acres.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 And no, it&#8217;s not the same image as the one in the previous post&#8211;it&#8217;s just as wet if not wetter.<\/p>\n<p>There&#8217;s also some gorgeous color: prairie flameleaf sumac at its peak.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-513\" title=\"prairie-flameleaf-sumac247\" src=\"http:\/\/www.80acresonline.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/10\/prairie-flameleaf-sumac247.jpg\" alt=\"prairie-flameleaf-sumac247\" width=\"319\" height=\"227\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.80acresonline.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/10\/prairie-flameleaf-sumac247.jpg 319w, http:\/\/www.80acresonline.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/10\/prairie-flameleaf-sumac247-300x213.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 319px) 100vw, 319px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Notice the small ones near it&#8230;if we&#8217;re lucky this thicket will fill the corner of the north horse lot.<\/p>\n<p>We have an exuberant Cecile Brunner rose at the low end of the horse lot, too&#8211;planted to disguise an old brush\/trash pile.\u00a0 To keep the horses from getting into the pile, or it, we fenced around it with old gates and panels, and it&#8217;s now filled the space.\u00a0 After all the rain, it&#8217;s covered with pale pink flowers.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-514\" title=\"rose-and-sumac254\" src=\"http:\/\/www.80acresonline.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/10\/rose-and-sumac254.jpg\" alt=\"rose-and-sumac254\" width=\"335\" height=\"308\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.80acresonline.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/10\/rose-and-sumac254.jpg 335w, http:\/\/www.80acresonline.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/10\/rose-and-sumac254-300x275.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 335px) 100vw, 335px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Yes, that&#8217;s the same sumac behind it.<\/p>\n<p>Down in the creek woods, the main color was gold&#8211;the eastern persimmons have big butter-yellow leaves:<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-515\" title=\"persimmon-fall327\" src=\"http:\/\/www.80acresonline.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/10\/persimmon-fall327.jpg\" alt=\"persimmon-fall327\" width=\"232\" height=\"322\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.80acresonline.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/10\/persimmon-fall327.jpg 232w, http:\/\/www.80acresonline.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/10\/persimmon-fall327-216x300.jpg 216w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 232px) 100vw, 232px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>That&#8217;s a corner of the &#8220;lower swamp overflow&#8221;
